We at The Write Life NGO Working For Humanity

We knew this. Even before the pandemic, we knew that a large number of Indians struggled to pay for critical health costs, that very few had insurance to fight health emergencies, and that one critical illness could deplete the entire family’s financial health, sometimes even burying them in debt for years. More than 50 million Indians have already been pushed into poverty because of healthcare related costs.

Which is why, in 2016, we launched The Write Life NGO to offer a more compassionate solution to those fighting critical illnesses and to empower individuals and communities to help those in need.

Today, we know better. We know that more healthcare financing options need to be accessible to all Indians, that health emergencies arrive more often than we think and we are less prepared than we believe, and that we are all vulnerable regardless of our economic status. Which is why, we are going beyond creating a platform, to building innovations that can help a farmer save his new-born as well as a doctor who can no longer pay for his girl heart treatment.

बुजुर्ग की मदद करने पर नौकरी चली गई… लेकिन अगली सुबह जो हुआ, उसे देखकर सब रह गए इंसानियत की मिसाल दिल्ली का एक मॉल शाम के करीब 7:00 बजे थे। भीड़ थोड़ी कम हो चुकी थी, लेकिन ग्रोसरी सेक्शन के काउंटर नंबर चार पर अब भी कुछ ग्राहक लाइन में खड़े थे। उस काउंटर पर खड़ी थी संध्या। उम्र करीब 22 साल। वह एक मध्यमवर्गीय परिवार से थी और पढ़ाई के साथ-साथ नौकरी कर रही थी ताकि घर की जरूरतों में हाथ बटा सके। उसकी आंखों में थकान जरूर थी, लेकिन व्यवहार में शालीनता और चेहरे पर हल्की सी मुस्कान हमेशा बनी रहती थी। तभी एक बुजुर्ग व्यक्ति धीरे-धीरे काउंटर के पास पहुंचे। उनकी उम्र करीब 75 साल थी, कमर झुकी हुई थी, हाथों में कंपन था और आंखों में झिझक। उन्होंने अपने छोटे से थैले में से कुछ सामान निकाला—दो ब्रेड, एक दूध का पैकेट, कुछ दवाइयां और एक साबुन। उन्होंने धीरे-धीरे सामान बेल्ट पर रखा और फिर जेब से एक पुराना सा बटुआ निकाला। संध्या ने स्कैन करना शुरू किया। कुल ₹214 हुए, दादा जी। बुजुर्ग ने कांपते हाथों से कुछ नोट निकाले। ₹200 ही थे। बाकी बटुए में सिक्कों के अलावा कुछ नहीं था। उन्होंने घबराकर कहा, “बिटिया, बस ...
